Town boss Paul Jewell was once again left bemoaning his side’s inability to take chances after their 2-0 home defeat to Wolves.

Town missed a hatful of chances as Wolves left Portman Road with a 2-0 victory. A second-half own goal by Tommy Smith then a long distance strike from sub Tongo Doumbia were enough to take the points with the Blues profligate in front of goal throughout.

Goals from Luke Williams and Mustapha Carayol saw Middlesbrough to a 2-0 victory over the Blues at the Riverside. Town had had the better of it until Williams struck in the 34th minute, Lee Martin and Paul Taylor both having forced Boro keeper Jason Steele into saves, but they didn’t seriously threaten again until the closing stages when Daryl Murphy, Michael Chopra and Taylor all went close, but sub Carayol cemented the home side’s win on the break.

The ITFC Charitable Trust is after stories and artefacts from the club’s past for its new Ipswich Town Football Archive project. The project, which has received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), catalogues and uses Town’s already extensive collection of football artefacts, programmes, trophies, historic documents, visual images, audio recordings and other memorabilia to encourage learning and participation.
